It's a fair question. The 15 machines in atari my collection combined are less powerful than a çağdaş-day gaming computer.
There’s a number of “Multimedia PC” titles that are like this and a few games around 94ish era. There’s some later titles that seemed to much prefer an actual 6x or 8x, but not many, and most devs had “got an actual freaking clue” by then and made sure they loaded content gracefully whatever the speed of the drive. Also some drives are better than others at using multiple speeds, reading slower when required, but a real 2x is a real 2x and will make mid 90s stuff play right.
Most importantly, this device is supposed to deliver comprehensive Spectrum fun with the convenience of modern interfaces like HDMI and USB, birli well birli the fully functioning replica keyboard – so you could perhaps prod in your own Sinclair BASIC games.
It’s a great piece of macun – I own one myself and love it – but at a few hundred pounds it’s very much a specialist device.

If you go back far enough you’re going to find that even mundane stuff is expensive and increasingly hard to get. A CRT that supports RGBI/CGA for example will run you a few hundred bucks, plus a substantial amount for shipping because those suckers are fragile and *heavy*. Honest-to-god mechanical hard drives sevimli and will just drop dead for no apparent reason.
I’ve just started work on assembling the VT132, a DEC VT100 compatible terminal. I got the standalone board, but there is also a version bey an add-on board for the RC2104 computer.
